Welcome to the home of South Boundary. We are a male, mostly a cappella ensemble that performs in Aiken, SC and around the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area). We have been singing for our whole lives and have taken it as our task to help develop a culture of singing in our town. Take a look around our website and learn about us and our service to the community.
Want to sing with us? South Boundary is always looking for good singers. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7 – 8:45 in the Etherredge Center (room 125) on the USC Aiken campus. Please use the Contact Us form to arrange an audition or to get in touch with us.
We are very pleased to welcome Diane Haslam as our new music director. Diane is an accomplished vocalist and teaches voice at USC Aiken and at her own studio. She is very well known for her extensive experience organizing and leading vocal ensembles. We had a few informal, get acquainted rehearsals last Spring and are now in full rehearsal mode. Our plan is to spend the next several months working under Diane’s direction to add some new techniques and build a repertoire before performing in public. Look for our first live performance in January.
It was a sad day on November 24, 2015 when we lost our leader and friend, Bill Riehl. Bill passed away from complications following brain surgery. He was the co-founder of our ensemble and our music director. Bill’s legacy includes his extensive work organizing our boys choirs and establishing our endowed scholarship for music students at USC Aiken. We will miss him.
Several of us participated as part of a USC Aiken Festival Choir for a performance tour to Italy. In addition to us, this ensemble contained seven very talented students from the USC Aiken Concert Choir and many members of the Masterworks Chorale. We performed in Orvieto (Aiken’s sister city), Florence, Perugia, and Rome (St. Peter’s Basilica). What a humbling experience it was to sing in those historic cathedrals!
